I asked Wuffy this morning if he wanted sandwiches but he asked for crackerbread again!!

crackerbread and brown slice
spinach, cucumber, yellow pepper and beetroot
rice casserole
apple, kiwi and raspberries
blueberry yogurt
juice
He ate most of it today, he left some of the salad and probably most of the rice stuff
We had the rice casserole for dinner last night, it contained onion, garlic, mushrooms, peppers, sweet potato, green beans, paprika, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, creamed tomatoes, rice, veg stock, spinach and lentils. Wuffy loved it:)
Tonight we had jacket potato with beans (wuffy had baked beans we had chickpeas in mediterranean sauce) with leaves and cucumber. We had a bit of balsamic vinegar on the leaves and Wuffy asked for some. I told him he wouldn’t like it but he insisted. He then cleared his plate and dipped his potato in the balsamic vinegar all the while telling me how good it was!! he then had banana and custard. Sometimes the simple meals are so good
We have been wondering if explaining why we are vegan in more detail will help Wuffy accept the need for packed lunches. He knows we don’t eat anything from animals because they are our friends and we don’t want to hurt them but is it the time to be a little more graphic?
We are at a bit of a loss of how to persuade him that packed lunches are what he has to have. Nursery always cooked special food for him and I think he is feeling a bit left out as all of his friends eat school dinners.
If anyone has any advice or can recommend any good child friendly books or DVD’s we would appreciate it
I somehow managed to become a committee member on the school PTA tonight!!
Wuffy had virtually the same today as Friday

crackerbread and brown slice
spinach, cucumber, orange pepper and beetroot
fruit – apple, kiwi and raspberries
bourbon creams and tortilla chips
juice
Again he ate the tortilla chips and biscuits and that was it. But when he got home (I was at work) Daddy said that Wuffy decided he would eat it and cleared the box, right down to the last piece of spinach!! so clearly he likes all of this food he just isn’t eating it at school
I asked him why and he said he wasn’t hungry and on further questioning he said that he wants to stay dinner like all of his friends. I really don’t know what to do, I simply do not trust the school to feed him. I need to somehow convince Wuffy that packed lunch is a good thing

well you can see what he had, he ate the tortilla chips and bourbon creams and that was it!! I put it down to tiredness at the time but I think there might be more to it
We’ve been a bit busy recently so I’m behind. Normal service will be resumed shortly.
We spent all day on Saturday in the garden, building a slide, chopping down blighted tomatoes, ripping old felt off the summer house roof and creating a container for all of the leaves that are falling.
On Sunday Wuffy and I went swimming, we try to do this most Sunday mornings as Wuffy loves water. After lunch we went on the School Walk. We were given a sheet of questions with directions, we had to follow the directions and answer all of the questions. I gave up on how many chimneys on the roof of the old hall and wrote ‘lots’
. We were the second group back so wuffy walked quite fast considering that most of the others were older children, although everyone did set off at slightly different times but all within a few minutes of each other.
On Sunday night Mummy and Daddy went to Halifax to see Kate Rusby in concert. This is the first night out we have had since Wuffy was born!! She was very good, we are sure that Wuffy would have liked it but he is still too fidgety to take to something like that. We are planning a trip to the Cambridge Folk Festival next year which we think may be a better environment to introduce him to live music. I have to say though that it was nice to have a night out without him
His Aunt and Uncle looked after him and they said he was very entertaining and he never stopped talking until they put him to bed. Typical that for his Auntie Susan he went to bed with no problems, he doesn’t do that for Mummy and Daddy!! Not that he is badly behaved, he just tries every delaying tactic he can think of.
Finally the tiredness seems to be hitting Wuffy. This morning I had to wake him up at 7.30 and he was as grumpy as hell. He told me off because he wanted to carry on dreaming, he then went and got into our bed and hid under the covers for 20 mins. It was about 8.10 before he found his way downstairs and then he wouldn’t choose breakfast. Eventually he did eat two helpings of malties and got to school on time.

granary stick
slice and cucumber
fruit – apple, raspberries and sultanas
tortilla chips
strawberry yogurt
juice
Even though he had asked for granary stick he only ate one of the three pieces!!

Crackerbread hiding under slice
salad – leaves, cucumber, tomaotes and beetroot
fruit – pear, raspberries and grapes
tortilla chips
chocolate pudding
juice
He left a bit of the salad and surprisingly some of the fruit
Wuffy insisted on crackerbread again today but said he didn’t want sticks

crackerbread hiding under slice
potato hoops and cucumber
apple, raspberries and grapes
chocolate cake
juice
He ate everything except some of the cake which he dropped on the floor

crackerbread hiding under “chicken” sticks
lettuce, cucumber, tomato and beetroot
apple, strawberry, raspberries and grapes
chocolate cake with extra cherries
juice
Wuffy did well today, he brought home a small amount of salad and a piece of strawberry but ate the rest
We went to Harrogate on Saturday for lunch. There used to be a vegan restaurant there called Wild Ginger but it had to close earlier this year as the landlord wanted to convert the property into flats. We really liked Wild Ginger, we even had our wedding reception there, so we were very disappointed. However just before it closed another restuarant in Harrogate asked if they would go in with him. So we can still get vegan food at this other restaurant.
We went there in July just after it had moved and it was pretty good, not quite as good as Wild Ginger but not bad. Unfortunately on Saturday it was way below Wild Ginger standards. I’m not sure if we will bother going again as we can get vegan food of the same standard just down the road in town. It was worth the 90 minute journey before but if that is the new standard then it simply isn’t worth the trip
I am behind with the lunch photos this week. I am afraid I have to say this is due to alcohol. I work at a University and the most recent National Student Satisfaction Survey rated (well our students rated) the department I work in 4th in the country, so we all went out for a drink last night. We also had a curry. I had veg samosas followed by daal and rice and very good it was too. Actually I would rather have that in town than travel all the way to Harrogate!!
I will upload photos tonight.
